HAMILTON — The Halifax Thunderbirds are one of the teams the Toronto Rock will have to beat to have significant success in the playoffs. But they came with far…

Toronto meanwhile used a 5-0 run midway thorough the game to break it open and after continued to put pressure on the Thunderbirds who never showed the push to stay competitive after that.

Multiple-goal performances was the theme of the night for Toronto . Tom Schreiber continued to lead the Rock with five goals, giving him 14 on the season, he also added three assists. Mitch de Snoo completed a hat trick of transition markers. Rogers himself had a National Lacrosse League rarity, scoring on two penalty shots awarded during the game. Stephen Keogh scored twice to continue his streak of scoring in every Rock game so far. Others getting two each were Zach Manns and Corey Small.

Ryan Bensche and Dawson Theede each scored twice for Halifax . Clarke Petterson, Eric Fannell, Austin Shanks, and Bo Bowhunter added one each for the Thunderbirds. “We wanted to play fast,” Rogers said. “We knew after an emotional game last night they would have some energy early and we just wanted to take that away and impose our will.”Toronto played most of the game without defender Josh Jubenville, who was assessed a boarding major and game misconduct just eight seconds in. His hit on Clarke Pettersen set off an animosity that would carry for the entire game as there were several skirmishes between the two sides during the night.

The Rock begin a two-game road spell in Philadelphia next Saturday. They will face the Wings, who lost 12-10 to Panther City on Saturday.
