A new waterfront public art trail is coming to Toronto thanks to a $25 million donation - the largest arts-related gift the city has ever received.

The Pierre Lassonde Family Foundation offered the donation for the trail, which will be located in parks at Villiers Island in Toronto’s Port Lands.

“Having lived in Toronto for a good portion of his life my father wanted to give something back to the city that would complement the many outstanding arts organizations already here,” Julie Lassonde, daughter of Pierre Lassonde, said. A rotating cycle of contemporary installations from local, national and international artists will also be featured at the trail.

Great news! More places for the homeless to live in. That's progressive!

I'm waiting for the moment some billionaire gives us a wad of cash in return for renaming the City after them. Bezosville? Musktown? Zuckbergburg?

Remember the $400,000 pay toilets that David Miller had us pay for that were supposedly self-cleaning and played you music while you relieved yourself next to the waterfront? 💸 Toronto TOpoli

Why don’t rich people like that give the donations to poor people instead of the city this city has enormous resources and ways and means to generate income to pay for these projects example my tax bill went up big time this year..

It's not stolen is it?

Sick.

That’s what we need right now is a useless art trail

Waterfront, downtown Toronto, pretty much destroyed. City planners should go visit some tier 1 cities outside Canada and escape provincial mindset. Its all buildings, all the way up to the lake. Is this on landfill from the buildings' foundation dugouts.

“donation.”
