Tim Hortons' latest change is leaving some customers with a bitter taste

Back then, the contest was simple: Buy a beverage and roll up the rim. Win or lose, it was a fun way to reward loyal users in the middle of winter.

“It’s super complicated. There’s so many layers to it,” Weaver said. “Simplicity is always a core principle when it comes to promotions.” When the contest begins on March 11, it will come in two phases. Customers who buy hot beverages will get to roll up their rims for the first two weeks, and those with a Tims Rewards will get an extra roll online. For the final two weeks, the only opportunity to win will be online through digital play.

But because there’s so many facets to the contest now, McNeish predicts there will be plenty of confusion in stores when it rolls out. “It’ll piss the older people off, especially in the last two weeks,” she said. “If it is really difficult for people to understand, then they’re going to have to do some work.”

The sustainability play through reusable cups could attract Gen-Z and millennial consumers who are environmentally conscious, but McNeish feels it would’ve been better to avoid this angle entirely.

Its fast but not good food.

They're the Definition of 'Fast Food'. 1) Servers have a Timer above their Drive thru window and a time limit per order 2) they Have a Drive Thru 3) their Food items take 5 Minutes or Less 4) Their Food items are convenience over Quality. As a Chef, I can tell you: FAST FOOD

Dummkopf Timmies executives. A group of girl guides could have told the executives that the new high tech roll up to win was stupid.

Often wondered why prizes didn't include Tims branded, thermal, reusable mugs. Could also be a responsible loyalty prize instead of more coffee and pastries.

What a mistake. There’s something to be said for tradition and simplicity. My kids had fun with it and so did my dad and grandfather. Neither would go through the hassle of figuring this out.

Maybe they actually want less people playing and winning since they halved the worth of the prizes.

Lets keep up with the times by providing recyclable cups/lids. Or biodegradable products. Because yes, lots of cups end up thrown on the ground. But eliminating the roll up aspect alienates the older generations who don’t use electronics etc. SaturdayMorning

Its been known the free food, but when it came to win a car or big items it was not honored. It wouldn't fiz on me if they stopped or just change for free food only but they have point stickers and app free stuff. So drop it be o.k.

Why change this. If it ain’t broke don’t fix it.

I love the idea of making the competition more environmentally friendly, but they definitely could have rethought how they do the prizing.

Really? If anyone is upset about this, they need to focus on more important things in their lives.

Tim’s leadership makes you wonder if any of them have attended any business classes and how to do business in the 21st century. I know first year business school students with better insight into marketing and profitability. TimHortons

Maybe Tim Hortons should work on making better coffee instead all this. Quality has dropped and their line staff are usually cross. No wonder Starbucks is winning.
