SYDNEY, N.S. — Three Cape Breton drivers were charged with stunting after they were caught travelling speeds that caused significant concern.
In an effort to keep citizens informed about enforcement on Nova Scotia roadways, RCMP have released statistics on stunting charges. A driver was charged with stunting after being clocked at 154 km/h in a 100 km/h zone on Highway 125 in Mira Road, while another driver was charged after doing 147 km/h in a 70 km/h zone on Highway 105 in North Sydney.
The final stunting charge came on Main Street in Sydney Mines when a driver was clocked doing 103 km/h in a 50 km/h zone.Stunting is defined as any person who operates a motor vehicle on a highway in a race, or in a contest, while performing a stunt or on a bet or wager. Anyone driving a motor vehicle 50 km/hr or more over the speed limit may be charged with stunting.
The fine for stunting in Nova Scotia is $2,422.50 for a first offence, six points on your licence and an immediate seven-day roadside licence suspension.It has been our privilege to have the trust and support of our East Coast communities for the last 200 years.
