HALIFAX, N.S. — A cancer diagnosis kept him from reaching his goal of working 50 years on the radio. But only by a few months. Rick Howe grew up with a passion for broadcasting and reporting the news of the day. And he's gathered a lot of stories in the 49 years in the business. He's taken time between his ongoing treatments to write his memoir. He also writes and discusses, for the first time publicly, his treatment for rectal cancer and his ongoing health concerns.

Eyewitness to the transition from 45s and magnetic tape to CDs, MP3s, computers, websites, blogs and the worldwide web. And through all of the technology one thing remains constant: the satisfaction of sharing compelling stories with other humans. The responsibility of knowing better, is doing better.
