Both Italian reinforcements from Serie A signed by TFC this year – winger Lorenzo Insigne and left back Domenico Criscito – were at the Training Ground. Criscito, 35, went out on the field and trained with his new teammates for the first time while Insigne, 31, trained inside in the gym.
“Good to have Mimmo on the field,” said Bradley. “The day before games are not intense training sessions but it’s the beginning of the work with him, so that’s excellent.” With the international trade window opening, TFC has worked on getting former Toronto winger Richie Laryea back from Nottingham Forest on a loan deal, though TSN reported that clubs in Belgium, the Netherlands, and the English Championship are also interested in the Canadian international defender. Laryea moved on to Forest this season but did not play very much. Nottingham was promoted to the Premier League when the 2021-22 season ended.
“Obviously it will take some time to adjust and kind of ingrain them in the group, but they both seem like good guys,” said Bono. “I know I can speak for all of us that we’re really excited about them and can’t wait for them to gain full fitness and help us out.
