Police found woman asleep at the wheel — via drivingdotca autonews

On Wednesday, Clouette-Lacroix pleaded guilty in the Ontario Court of Justice via telephone link to the lesser charge of careless driving under the Highway Traffic Act. The plea was with Crown consent.

Justice Louise Serre issued a $1,000 fine and one-year probation order that includes conditions that Clouette-Lacroix completes the province’s Back on Track program and also not drive with any alcohol in her system. “The reason I passed out was not because I was intoxicated or drank too much,” Clouette-Lacroix, 24, told the court. “I was on medication and, having a cooler mixed together, made me dozy. I did pull over.”

No details about the original impaired driving charge, such as Intoxilyzer readings, were disclosed in court. Clouette-Lacroix represented herself in court Wednesday. As a result of the careless driving plea, the Crown withdrew the original impaired driving charge Clouette-Lacroix was facing.
