Scarborough Health Network says a data breach occurred earlier this year where patient data may have been accessed.
The “unauthorized actor” was booted from the system on Feb. 1, said SHN, adding that patient data obtained after that date is not considered at risk. Those who visited an SHN-affiliated COVID-19 vaccine clinic are not at risk, as any medical data processed for vaccine administration was uploaded solely to the Ministry of Health servers, rather than any internal SHN ones.
“Furthermore, all IT security improvements that were addressed as a result of [the] investigation were immediately addressed,” said Buller.
