Sanctions hurt the people and will make them more dependant on Putin

Damn, how many Kremlin bots are in this thread?

Thanks Melanie, now Canada should prepare for…

She’s Clueless and doesn’t know what the hell she’s doing. Russia doesn’t care about sanctions. Canada, US, UK, rest of NATO all need to send troops to reinforce the Ukraine border. And in a united voice YOU SHALL NOT PASS! not wait till after they pass and ask please go back

Big deal! The wealthy of Russia won’t suffer one little bit.

Joes not of sound mind.

We will write a very harshly worded letter.

No maple syrup for Russia!

The best thing NATO can do is turn off free WiFi in Kievs Downtown

Keep out of this fight!

DO IT NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I see this as a very scary situation.

How would you feel if someone you don't know steals your house in the evening and says I am an Israeli? That's happening on Palestians.

Occupying Israel, in defiance of international law, attacks Palestinians and violates their fundamental rights.

Canada should sent some Javelin anti-tank missiles to Ukraine, just like the U.K. did. Oops, can't do. Canada does not have such missile system. How about sending some F-35s? Oops, none purchased yet (unlike Finland, which ordered lots). Then, maybe some old CF-18s then?

Sanctions after invasion? How does that help Ukraine? standwithukraine saynotoputin

Sheriff Trudeau is in town

Canada and its mighty ww1 ships and used fighter jets 🤣

Sheriff Trudeau is in town

The ones who should be sanctioned are NATO allies for their aggressive expansion and all the suffering they’ve caused for the past 70 years. DisbandNATO

How about something more than just sanctions until Russia gives back Ukranian territory?

This isn’t about Ukrainian sovereignty. It is about the ongoing dispute over payment for natural gas exported from Russia to the EU. Russia has cut the supply of gas transported through Ukraine and the EU can’t tolerate the high costs it is now faced with.

Certainly not getting the same leadership from Canada like we did last time Ukraine was in crisis too bad as Canada pretty much stopped it from escalating, I guess we r just a follower country not a leading country anymore..disappointing

Why so quick to sanction Russia, China and others whilst hush over Israeli atrocities?

So the West is encroaching on another Nations borders will military infrastructure and the West is not opposed to that Nations response to these actions. How would Canada feel if another country were on our border with military hardware?

Will we sanction Saudi Arabia and China for their human rights abuses? Nah,don't think so, too much money to be made.

chaddockcostelo Canada should sanction itself for attacking its own people with Omicron.

Stop or I will yell Stop again!

Putin would be more concerned about a pimple on his ass than he his about comments from Trudeau.

RosieBarton Let us be clear that Canada and melaniejoly are not leaders here. Very thankful for US, French and German leaders that have the depth and sophistication to address this crisis. Ms. Jolie blandly saying we stand by our friends is vacuous and weak.

Joly is just repeating what others said. She doesn't have the respect of the EU, & Putin. what is her expertize, other than clothes

Canada might as well send Ronald McDonald to represent us in Foreign Affairs, better him than that airhead Joly.

I’m sure Russia is terrified of our threat….just like every other nation is when we try to wade into conflict. I’m sure our sanctions will cripple them. As our D-bag PM says…..Ukraine…we got your back. We look foolish as a nation

If Chrystia Freeland was of Uyghur or Tibetan heritage, instead of Ukrainian, would the Trudeau government still allow China to keep invading Canada?

NATO is an acronym for Nothing To Be Afraid Of.

How about some focus on the rising inflation/cost of everything and broken supply chain before we worry about a war that has nothing to do with us?
