While the 67’s have loaded up in pursuit of an OHL championship and a potential shot at the Memorial Cup — Russian defenceman Pavel Mintyukov played his second game with the team on Friday — the game against the Bulldogs proved that nothing would come easily. They built up a 3-0 first-period lead in the feisty contest on goals by Sahil Panwar, Nick Lardis and Patrick Thomas against 67’s goaltender Max Donoso. A goal by the 67’s Cameron Tolnai was taken off the board when the play was ruled offside after a lengthy video review. The 67’s rallied back to 3-2 in the second period on goals from Frankie Marrelli and Cooper Foster, but the Bulldogs bit back.
Gardiner, who has scored 16 goals and 10 assists in 53 games, is ranked 43rd on the list. The son of former Ottawa Senators centre Bruce Gardiner, he was originally chosen 40th overall by the 67’s in the 2021 OHL Priority Selection draft. While the high-flying Ottawa 67’s continue to pursue an Ontario Hockey League championship, they are also making a mark in advance of next summer’s National Hockey League draft.
