The Mounties have said the suspect was armed and threatening Prime Minister Justin Trudeau but was arrested peacefully after Mounties talked him down for more than an hour and a half on the morning of July 2. Corey Hurren, who is from Manitoba, faces 22 charges, nearly all of them weapons offences related to the guns allegedly in his possession.
The incident at Rideau Hall followed weeks of stories about police officers treating people of colour, especially Indigenous people, harshly, to the point of killing them.
Some people are obviously just trying to stir up trouble over nothing.

The RCMP detail guarding the GG and PM are probably their best trained officers. Mr. Singh should just have left this at saying this case shows that de-escalation is possible and that he hopes it will be used more often in the future in such situations.

I'd be more concerned if the quality of the RCMP was anything less than stellar at Rideau. They've likely have more than the average training. Also, they don't see the same behaviour every single day thus becoming indifferent or burned out.

RCMP should be disappointed. Their actions have led to this type of 'talk'. They do a great job in majority of instances but need to be more consistent. Also need to be held accountable when incidents of wrongdoing occur (just like every other police force).
