Police patrols passed by the blockade in St-Lambert, Que., regularly overnight but there was no sign of a mobilization Friday to eject the protesters from the site on Canadian National Railway tracks

The protesters, who say they are blocking the rail lines in solidarity with Wet’suwet’en hereditary chiefs in British Columbia, refuse to identify themselves. Their actions have interrupted rail service for suburban commuters and for Via Rail travellers between Montreal and Quebec City.“The cause is much bigger than individuals,” one protester who declined to give his name said Thursday night. “Our identities are anecdotal; we are here to listen to the Wet’suwet’en.

Countrywide protests and blockades followed a move by the RCMP to enforce a court injunction earlier this month against the hereditary chiefs and their supporters, who had been obstructing an access road to a Coastal GasLink work site. Twenty-eight people were arrested, including one hereditary chief.

Quebec Premier Francois Legault told reporters he will leave it to police to enforce the injunction, but he hopes the blockade will be removed “rapidly.”“We need these tracks for transporting cargo, to avoid job losses, to avoid losses for companies,” he said. “The law has to be respected, and obviously I hope it is done in an orderly fashion.”

What a mess. Hope they clean up when they're done.

March 15th the CRA wants our first instalment, maybe we should make them wait the amount of time we wait for the train service to return

At least they admitted they couldn't care less about the Wetsu’wet’en First Nation community itself and that they have an environmental agenda More than can be said for most of the lowlifes exploiting this

These people aren't native. ... arrest them

Montreal needs to take a lesson from Alberta’s good ol’ boys.

RBC monitors coronavirus and rail blockades as it reports Q1 profitRoyal Bank of Canada is monitoring the recent, novel coronavirus outbreak and rail blockades across the country, but says it's too early to see the full impact of either yet. The 'Royal Bank of Canada is monitoring rail blockades' Isn't 'monitoring' what we're already paying the police for? Need a month of blockades before it affects the ones that matter, the greedy financial institutions. Unfortunately they are way too cushioned from reality unless its frontline workers.

Indigenous leader retracts rail blockade comments after community uproarAn Indigenous leader in Quebec retracted comments Wednesday about the possibility of ongoing rail blockades coming down -- words that didn't go over well with members of his own community. What does the truth matter anyways. Which Wet'suwet'en First Nation members was he referring to and which environmental concerns ? The few opposed to the pipeline or the majority that approved it and the original route because they felt it mitigated any risks to a greater extent than the alternative So when their leadership is saying what they want, they are the be all, end all, but if they say the wrong thing they are shit on and forced to retract their words. hypocrisy Wetsuwenten bullshit
