recently voted unanimously to pave the former Irving lot, using up to $186,702 from a reserve account to complete the work. The funds are coming from the proceeds of the sale of the former Bridgetown town hall, which is located next to the parking lot.
The site will include about 32 parking spaces, electric vehicle chargers and other amenities, including a planter for flowers. An Irving garage on the site was removed in 2003 and the company donated the land to the town in 2010. People have been parking there for years and community members have been pushing for it to be paved. As part of the 2014 Bridgetown dissolution agreement, the county has to use the proceeds from the sale of any of its property in the former town during the 10 years following the agreement for purposes associated with the former town and catchment area.
