The Toronto Police Services Board is calling on the SIU to provide “regular public updates” as they continue to probe the death of a woman who fell from an apartment building balcony near High Park on Wednesday night.

Relatives have said that 29-year-old Regis Korchinski-Paquet was in the midst of a mental health crisis and that they called police to the apartment building near Bloor Street and High Park Avenue in order to get her help.

The board also took the relatively unusual step of calling on the SIU to provide regular updates about the status of its investigation. They said that that they have already interviewed four of the five witness officers and will be interviewing the subject officer later today. They say that investigators have also spoken to several civilians “who were able to shed some light on what transpired” and conducted a canvas of the area in order to locate video footage.

It should be noted that none of Korchinski-Paquet’s relatives were actually inside the apartment at the time of her death.

How about putting in a Freedom of Information request to Toronto Police asking how many suicides and mental health calls have they had since COVID-19 and compare it to previous periods. Numbers don't lie. People on social media do.

My heart aches for her Mother. Just a terrible Situation. The Investigation should provide Information when it can confidently do so. I urge those Online to stop spreading unconfirmed Narratives of what happened. It’s not right.

Lol they’re going to keep milking this story

Hope SIU reveal the truth for this case soon, so everyone knows what happened.

SIU who comprises of mainly ex Police officers. Thats going to be fair. No no its not.

Committed suicide.

should be done quickly so assumptions can be resolved instead of communities trying to instigate things like in the US ....🤔🤔

Provide regular updates for what? How about the truth be told?
