The Pittsburgh Pirates claimed outfielder Anthony Alford off waivers from the Toronto Blue Jays Thursday.

August 27, 2020Alford was formerly one of the top prospects in the Blue Jays organization but struggled at the MLB level, hitting just .155 with a .454 OPS over parts of four seasons. The former third-round draft pick can play any of the three outfield positions and is known for his speed.

Pittsburgh general manager Ben Cherington is familiar with what Alford brings to the table, having previously served in the Blue Jays’ front office.

Damn. Hope he does awesome there.

I feel bad for Anthony. The Jay's front office are pretty outstanding at player evaluation. Hope they're wrong, or that he has a chance of flipping back to football? Likeable guy.....

His 'potential' was Never locked up. He needs to PLAY. ALWAYS. PERIOD!

GM Doug Armstrong says COVID-19 affected Blues in return to play - Sportsnet.caSt. Louis Blues general manager Doug Armstrong revealed on Wednesday that several members of team contracted COVID-19 during the league hiatus earlier this year, which he believes ultimately affected their performance in the Edmonton bubble. So let me get this straight they were sick before they started playing and nobody threw them out of the bubble... but in the meantime nobody else got sick... grow up and take responsibility ...they sucked While this might be true, that’s still on the organization to ensure players didn’t contract Covid during the stoppage.
