Dr. Lawrence Loh, Peel Region's medical officer of health who guided the community through the COVID-19 pandemic, has been named the new executive director and CEO of The College of Family Physicians of Canada.

Mississauga, Ont. mayor says city 'forever grateful' to Dr. Lawrence Loh for leadership through pandemicDr. Lawrence Loh is leaving his post of Peel Region's Medical Officer of Health to pursue the top job at the The College of Family Physicians of Canada.Effective September, Dr. Loh will succeed Dr. Francine Lemire, who is retiring after 10 years of service as CEO, the college says.

But through the COVID-19 pandemic, Loh became best known for his leadership as the Medical Officer of Health in Peel Region. Amanpreet Aheer, 19, gets her first dose of the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine from Dr. Lawrence Loh on May 16, 2021.
