New geotechnical woes at Site C will inevitably add significant expenses to final cost. Now isn\u0027t time to dig an even deeper financial hole.

The news, which B.C. Premier John Horgan called “disappointing,” prompted the government to appoint Peter Milburn, a former deputy minister of finance, to take a closer look at the project’s escalating problems and costs. As concerned British Columbians, we believe that was an unwise choice and that there is an urgent need for the government to reconsider.

The independent panel should also provide an estimate on what the required fixes will cost. This is essential to protect the immediate and long-term social and economic interests of all British Columbians. It can’t be emphasized enough that if Site C can be safely completed at all it will be years and untold billions-of-dollars before the finish line is crossed. Incredibly, construction of the earth-fill dam itself hasn’t even begun.

Ha! Yes let’s halt the project and pay the contractors hundreds of millions in extra work and standby claims. That will save money for sure. Notice how the authors are all former managers!🙄😂👌

Southern Alberta group plans to operate its own supervised drug siteA grassroots movement aimed at curbing overdose deaths in Lethbridge, Alta. is asking for volunteers to help but warns of significant 'backlash from the community.' Say what? Isn't that like having melanoma, but continuing to book appointments at the tanning salon because it makes you feel warm before you leave and shiver? This is a good idea. It gives people somewhere safe to go and keeps the public safer too. Decriminalisation of drugs would be best scenario but this is definitely a good step in helping those who do use drugs to use them safely.
