Ford said it's the responsibility of any builder to ensure they protect against development on floodplains.
In an interview with The Canadian Press, Guilbeault had said some of the lands where housing or commercial development is being proposed in Ontario are in floodplains, and flooding is the top climate change cost in Canada."The idea that the federal government will continue to compensate people where their provincial government deliberately allowed them to go and build housing units in an area that is prone to flooding is nonsense.
'After' - it shouldn't take the federal govt to remind doug of this
Ford needs to be impeached!! He has single handedly destroyed our Health Sector, Education Sector , and now the Environment..all in the name of Votes, Favours, and Power. Bill 23 and Bill 124 are illegal... Ford needs to be fired.
He also said he wasn’t going to touch the Greenbelt, remember FordMustGo
Depends on which of his developer buddies owns the floodplain.
He also promised that he wouldn't touch the greenbelt, so there's that
It will be a grave mistake to encroach flood planes
HandsOffTheGreenbelt
Who decides what's a flood plain?
We all know how well he tells the truth smh
HE SAID NOTHING OF THE SORT. Saying he has 'no plans to do so' is NOT the same as 'not allowing' it. He IS allowing destruction of greenfields and wetlands that will probably create new floodplains out of already built-up areas.
Also wrongly said he wouldnt develop the Greenbelt so consider the source.
Ford’s a f&$ing liar.
Don’t build on the greenbelt. Period. Go vertical or something.
Ford should read up on Hurricane Hazel if he wants an example of why you don't build on a flood plane.
So can Ottawa step in and stop this greenbelt sell off?!!
This guy? 👇👇
But Doug Ford is limiting the authority of conservation authorities so how would he know.
fordnation is full of 💩. He doesn’t care if Ontario home owners have their homes flooded. It will create more jobs for his “construction buddies”.
We don't believe him!
I see a lot of homes and developments out there built right on the edge of the flood plains.
But Ford lies. All the time, about everything. CorruptConservatives ThugNation
Bias rag quoting Ford's lies again and again. CdnMediaFailed
Surrrrrrre. Dude lies like breathing (Actually prob easier for him to lie)
Who would ever predict with this housing market that a plan to build homes using less than 1% of Greenbelt would cause so much pushback.
Yeah, we will see….Ford is all about corruption. He will find a way around it….
I like how you think you can trust whatever vocalization he makes.
How bout we start building up north where there is oodles of land
I bet if you check Dougies Search history, floodplain is near the top of the list...
Feds keep letting in people without increasing infrastructure investment and then slam provinces when looking to adapt. Lots of places for expanded housing in Ontario that will not harm the environment. Focus on solutions.
Man fuck that I need a place to shit n piss into the rivers
fordnation JustinTrudeau if demand for housing is high, why isn’t the government spending more money on meeting half of said demand and not depending on developers. It’s not like we have a shortage of materials. Instead of giving Billions to other nations.
Oh but he will if one of his “developers” tells him that’s what’s happening.
well, then I believe him 🤮
Oh they will though lol
How about Deez 🥜 crackass74
Investigate Doug and this Greenbelt deal!
'Ford said it's the responsibility of any builder to ensure they protect against development on floodplains.' Funny how it's never the governments responsibility with Ford. It'll just work out that a builder sells a flood plain house to some sucker, and then it's 'buyer beware'.
He said the developers won't build on them. Is he going to guarantee that? Like he's going to guarantee they will pass along the savings for not having development fees?
*Except for the rich Go ahead and just tack that onto any story about Doug Ford.
Don’t worry…if he does allow it you can be sure the insurance industry won’t insure them against flood.
Hopefully the feds make this same stand at Sumas Lake, Gatineau, the areas on the Ottawa that constantly flood
Also says it is the developer's responsibility like as if they'd care any more than he does. Build it, sell it, and be gone.
Sure
Bad idea
Does FordCorruption even know what a flood plain is? He should ask the Conservation Authorities - oh wait! 🤨
You sure? He's said a lot of shit
eejiots ford & his lot
They could always do stuff to disrupt water flow enough to make established communities into floodplains. You know... stuff like destroying wetlands.
IF we could actually believe a former drug dealing premier this would be a relief, but too many lies and too much corruption follow him. There must be a way to remove him from office, please someone find that way.
Is that green space floodlands?
Ford said he wasn't going to destroy the Greenbelt FORDisCORRUPT FORDmustRESIGN FordFailedOntario FordLIES
I'm sure he'll be right on top of it.
Whatever. Build on it and then say “aw, shucks” later. By the. The damage is done and oh, well.
I hope the homes are uninsurable.
Finally something I support
fordnation word means nothing. He’s done and he knows it. So he’s going to do whatever he wants. Any MPP that stands with him is gonna lose their job next election.
The people have no confidence in the Canadian lying media and corrupt government no more to lead...step down!!!
jake_sisko They'll just declare that these are not flood plains, and sell them anyway. We can't trust this man. FORDisCORRUPT
He’s just trying to appease folks while he turns around and does the exact opposite.
fordnation 🖕FORDmustRESIGN FORDisCORRUPT FordFailedThePeople FordFailedOntario
Now to pass a bill that redefines what “floodplains” are to only be areas that are outside of where Doug’s developer donors and friends want to build. It will happen, just wait and see.
Look at the Fraser Valley in BC as a very small example of why this is a good decision. People literally need to be denied insurance to stop quit building in floodplains
FionaSHS he had to be warned to know this.
Who builds on flood plains? Lol that's OK just open up the green belt we need to sell I want to retire early thx dad
Sure he will, if his cronies can make a killing.
Good, some good use of force by the feds!
That’s a good decision. Otherwise higher insurance claims will cost other homeowners extra.
Unless there is money to be made.. then Ford will be all over it.
And, you take fordnation’s word to the bank. Literally, give him some campaign cash, get a land flip tip and take it to cibc
I don’t believe him.
“Ontario will never touch the autism program” “Ontario will never touch the greenbelt” “Ontario will never build on floodplains”…
ford says ya like that means anything everything he says you cant trust he back tracks ,lies distracts from actual facts listens to no-one while claiming to listens to his experts after the AG report which caught his lies again he tells them to pretty much mind her own business
But the Auditor just reported he doesn’t know where they are.
As DimebagDoug allows flood plains (bought for cheap by his “donors”) to be developed.
Oh FFS! Stop with the 'flip-flop' fordnation ledes!! And CP24, maybe flush out the real story here, eh?!
He also said he wouldn't touch the Greenbelt and yet...
The fact that he would even consider, let alone approve, such building... man... what does that tell you!?
Is that the same Doug Ford who said he wouldn't build on the Greenbelt, that guy?
But, he just approved that!!!
Yeah, I totally believe fordnation not!
So kind of you fordnation
TheFrankDomenic
He wants to inform the minister about what’s going on? How about letting him know how his rich builder friends bought up useless land before fordnation opened up the greenbelt for new homes?
The destruction of home by causes linked to climate change is costing billions. They had to do something.
Development near floodplains as well, as these developments no doubt increase footprint of the potential flood area by increasing runoff.
