The Ontario government has issued an emergency order which prevents closed child care operators across the province from charging parents fees.

The news comes after some families reported that daycares were charging them for services not rendered.

The government notes that the order also means that parents cannot lose their child care space when they are not paying fees during the closure, a move it says will provide much needed “relief” for parents during the outbreak. Earlier this month, the government announced a one-time COVID-19 payment of $200 to $250 per child to help offset the costs of keeping children entertained and engaged during the extended time away from school.

“COVID-19 has imposed significant financial pressure on working parents,” Education Minister Stephen Lecce said in the news release. “We need to support our parents who may be facing reduced income or layoffs during the COVID-19 outbreak.”

What about home daycare you allow to stay open therefore they are still charging us even though we aren't using their service they claim they cant recieve cerb

What about the money we paid for the month of march? That leaves two weeks worth of payments that need to be a rebate for when we return kids to daycarembwe shouldn't have to pay that

Great DEED, is the Governance covering the cost instead? Landlords wants their CASH.

My gf teaches at a Montessori school. And the parents are not being charged for the time the kids are away.

What about private schools that are still requiring tuition payments even though the kids aren't in school?

Ontario now recommends COVID-19 tests for all long-term care residents being transferred into homesNew guidance reverses a previous policy that said only patients with symptoms should be tested This is overdue but still not close to what is required. All long-term care residents & staff, symptomatic or not, need to be tested. Repeatedly. You can’t save those who you cannot identify. And new residents be put into quarantine (infection control protocols put in place) until results return. Didn't think they could admit to a home new residents if there was an outbreak and that should be followed to the letter. Getting the testing up so we can end this nonsense. Also how is it even possible to confirm these 200 are accurate? Are they coronavirus caused? Coronavirus complications? Or people that died while testing positive? We need daily updates on the number of people being tested. The numbers of infected is useless without this information. We don’t know if the increase is due infection rates or testing rates. Journalists need to up their game. We depend on you.
