Ontario's decision not to test asymptomatic people for COVID-19 infections is a policy that the province should consider changing and soon, a Toronto-based infectious disease specialist said.

The provincial government recently announced that it would be opening up testing to all people experiencing symptoms of the virus, a directive Dr. Isaac Bogoch suggests is long overdue.

"Alberta started testing asymptomatic individuals. In fact, they tested 1,000 asymptomatic individuals in and around the Calgary area and they found 50 positive people. Imagine how helpful that is in getting the epidemic under control," he said. On Tuesday, only 7,382 tests were conducted and only 5,813 were processed on Monday. At the same time, an additional 390 new cases of the virus were reported on Tuesday and 427 were confirmed on Monday.

Where's the antibody testing stats?

So should every province

No, what a waste of resources

Haha now that is just plain funny! Not going to happen. BreakingFakeCTVNews

So picking random people off the street?

For what reason unless asymptomatic people can give others the virus and this has not been proven that this is the case? This also means testing everyone. How do you know you have the virus if you are asymptomatic!?

Why. It will only drive numbers up and put us into another overreach lockdown....with a worldwide. 0.028 death rate

Hm, Dr. Tam said she should have advised closing borders early. Apparently the issue was sick people leaving China on trans-ocean flights. Oh well. She was an expert, too.

The only reason I hate wearing masks is because they aren’t breathable. My face gets super heated and I get lightheaded every time I wear one. Like I still do every time I go out but we need another solution.

There is no such test for covid19 aka Chinese Wuhan Virus. The test is for exposure to SARS or any previous corona virus exposure.

Think it's about darn time.

I mean, yeah. That's the only way to get to contact tracing.
