BREAKING Ontario records another spike in new COVID-19 cases

The province recorded 460 new cases of the novel coronavirus Sunday morning, the fourth straight day that daily case numbers have been above 400.

Sunday’s report marks the highest number of new cases reported in Ontario since May 8. when 477 new cases were confirmed. And as the number of new cases appear to be trending upward in recent days, the number of daily tests for COVID-19 has remained well below the provincial capacity. According to the Ministry of Health, the province performed 11,383 in the last 24 period, well below government’s goal to complete tests 16,000 daily. The province has previously said that it has the capacity to conduct at least 20,000 tests a day.

How about getting instant/ quick-test testing supplies & PPE to Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre!! 30 ish staff sent home due to a patient with atypical Covid19 symptoms having to wait days for test results 😡

How about the start in the hospitals like they did LTC?!

You don't have Covid, but you have herpes

Did not see this coming (Covid-19) Mr. Ford. You and your minions were too busy planning updates to their summer lake side cottages.

With what test?

An 800 lb gorilla transfixed. Staring at the headlights. He thinks “oh yeah. That’s the light at the end of the tunnel” In reality, it is an oncoming train to wipe him out at next election. Still not impressed by him or his ilk. covid fordnation

Nope. I'm not leaving the safety and security of my home in order to go to a testing centre where the potential of picking up the virus is greater. I have 3 other people in my home to think about so this is not going to happen. Come to my door, maybe I'll accede. fordnation

Did he inform the local public health units administering these tests? Reagent supply and technician staffing is limited.

fordnation Please introduce similar open anti body testing. So many of us experienced Covid symptoms and were told to stay home without a test. Now, it would be prudent to find out if we had the disease.

Says the yahoo who can't follow his own rules

Looking to solve a problem that doesn't exist. What a controlling buffoon.

People who frequent public places on a regular basis should be tested, especially if they travel from one community to another. There is a strong need to protect small communities that cannot afford to treat large numbers of patients at one time.

Funny how provinces with high liberal voters and fake news media fear monger the most.

Funny how msm always has the number of Asians who were racially insulted at the ready, but here you leave out the number of Caucasians killed by the coronavirus. Most ppl know what the below US study shows: the vast majority in nursing homes are white

The more testing-the higher numbers. Scary time’s indeed. We do not need blockades on bridges and police resources wasted on blocking freedom of movement. We need testing, contact tracing, and isolation if suspected positive. None of this blocking people on bridges.

The number of cases in Ontario appears to be out of control and is increasing rapidly. Serious consideration will have to be given to reinstalling checkpoints if the situation does not improve.

Do they? Or did they just finally get around to testing twice as many ppl

And after yesterday’s situation at Bellwood’s Park, you can expect many many more to come. You’d better impose the restrictions once again before this goes out of control completely unless you’re looking to “immunize” the population.

Breaking : The media has a crack like addiction to Covid and needs to go to rehab

Why are we opening up if the numbers are not decreasing. I thought the province wasn't going to ease up on restrictions until the numbers decreases for at least 2 weeks.

It’s important to remember that Canada would not be in as big a COVID mess now if: Trudeau had listened to his MILITARY’S warning early JANUARY, not GAVE AWAY PPE, and keep AIRPORTS and BORDERS OPEN until mid MARCH....

I think we are all going to get this eventually unless stupid people start distancing themselves from others.

Great job Ontario! Keep up the great work!

Give us the daily new hospital cases and deaths. That is what is meaningful.

London Real is telling the truth while you guys are still lying. Shame on you as media, shame on doctors as cover up, shame on poltitians as traitors.

Exactly two weeks after Mother’s Day. Humans suck right now.

So what, open up economy, Fed up of FAKE NEWS CTV, pushing there propaganda FAKE NEWS.

Any global warming spikes today?

How about thousands of people don't gather in a park.

This is the mothers day spike. Since there is 1000 times as much transmission with the beaches and parks this last weekend: What will The mega city Toronto do if cases spike 10,000 times higher in 2_weeks?

This will continue as people are idiots. It's a nice day, let's take a drive to .... for some fries; for some golf; for something to do. No thanks. Staying at home, in your own community doesn't include traveling 3 hours to hang out & leave again! stayoutofygk StayAtHome

If they increased testing this would be an expected result. All depends on when the tests were done and if the positives are in a specific area....

So many people at the grocery store were not wearing masks ... and treating it as a day out. The segementation between those that wear masks and those that don't seems to be demographic and political - sad 😷

Cases are irrelevant. Only the mortality rate matters. Also since Ontario only just barely opened up slightly the spike must be due to other reasons.

Shocking. Ignorance😡

Lock down Toronto. They are ruining it for the rest of Ont!

Mother's Day. 2 weeks ago. Hey, if test done, absent indication or risk, and returns negative, what if infection occurs say, 24 hours later A lot of help THAT is! False security.

I didn’t realize how many “I don’t give a crap about anyone else, let’s move on” Trolls there were. No wonder we aren’t getting anywhere.

Gee I wonder why ?

4% positive out of the 11,383 tested in a 24 hour period. Would be more useful to know if the positive percentages is increasing or decreasing. But positive numbers get more clicks.

Case Fatality Rate from the CDC, stratified by age (best estimates as of April 29th): 0-49: 0.0005 (5 in 10,000 or 0.05%) 50-64: 0.002 (2 in 1,000 or 0.2%) 65+: 0.013 (13 per 1,000 or 1.3%)

Resolved in reased as well. Why are you not showing that. Try to be responsible reporting.

Who are they, how old, where do they live and what underlying conditions do they have contributing to it? FACTS MATTER! MSM are pros at DECEITFUL MISLEADING info about this! ITS NOT THE GENERAL PUBLIC getting sick! But I'm sick of the Trudeau Liberal spun PROPAGANDA by IDIOT MSM!

Fearfearfearfearfearfearfear....Oh..those ASSHOLES who were at TrinityBellwoods Park yesterday...oooohhhhhh Nooooooo.......fearfearfearfear.....Can you EVER find your responsible journalism course of 1980

Oh I'm so surprised

The math needs to be changed. It needs to reflect how fast a hospital is being filled in a timely matter. We need to look at population densities in detail. Total number of cases reflects just that , total number of cases .

How many people have had the flu (non-covid) this year? Please start producing those numbers, along with deaths associated.

😡😡😡😡😢😢😢😢

Not surprising when you see the irresponsible behaviour of people lately, like the crowd at Trinity Bellwoods park yesterday.

This is a direct result from Mother’s day.... the reacts of the park we will feel in about 10 or so days

Is it people in hospitals or just tested positive more you test more you find how about this testcfor brains in toronto trick question there are bo brains in toronto

The virus keeps around us till the vaccine will be developed

CTVNationalNews 2 week old data and who? where? Age? Quit blaming people for enjoying nice weather. Time for hiding is over..go enjoy life. .

tincanman2010 'Southern' Ontario. Don't lump 2/3s of the province in with 1/3.

u cant stop it just prolong, n protect vulnerable.

Until we get a vaccine, this will not go away...

So does Toronto...

This breaking news seems devoid of details and actual facts .Who's getting sick ? Has testing increased ? Region ? Seems sketchy .

Can we all just remember that the results we are seeing today were tested two weeks ago. Yes we will probably see the cases rise moving forward.

It will continue to cycle until you pull the flu vaccine. Antibodies generated by influenza antigen (grown in dog cells rich in ACE2 with latent endogenous coronaviruses) have the direct consequence of blocking vital pathways during exposure to coronaviruses including SARS-2.

Spike? It’s 20 more than the daily norm of more than a week ago. TWENTY. In a province of 14 million. The hysteria and lack of context is so tiresome.

Age? Other heath issues? Old folks homes? Numbers? Etc.

Looking at all the idiots in the park I think we know where the problem is.

Increased testing is going to increase the positive numbers...who cares...time to move an with opening up the porvince..

Oh well. Keep the economy open and let people continue with their lives. You won't stop this virus.

Ok everyone, let's head to the parks and beaches.

More people tested, some might have symptoms too.

If Trudeau and that idiot Tory want to ban something, ban travel for the citiots. Now they are invading the rest of Ontario.

But the beach tho...

It’s going to get worse.... WearAMask

Where, where & where. Need the whole picture

I wonder why......seeing all those young people in the parks in Toronto....this is no surprise!

Thanks Toronto
