Ontario is offering free naloxone kits with training in how to use them for “at risk” workplaces — and will legally require them to be in place by June 1 following a surge in opioid overdoses.
He noted overdoses have soared in the last two decades, killing a record 2,819 people in the province last year alone, an increase from 336 in 2003. At-risk workplaces include anywhere staff talk about addictions issues or needles or other drug paraphernalia are found, McNaughton told reporters in an announcement at a west-end bar.
