Some Greater Victoria residents may have been taken by surprise Tuesday morning when they woke up to a light blanket of snow that caused minor disruptions in the region.
But unlike the severe winter storms that struck earlier this winter, causing widespread disruptions and shutting down services for days, drivers managed to navigate the two centimetres of snowfall with ease. Due to the cold temperatures, Victoria High shuttered its facilities and BC Transit altered several of its service-stops and entirely cancelled the 35 Ridge route. And while there were reports warning of snow on the Malahat, by noon the roads had cleared entirely. No significant motor vehicle accidents were reported by local police departments, and the CRD has warned residents that recycling collection may experience minor delays.
UPDATE: Expect delays in curbside recycling collection – If your recycling is not picked up by 9PM, please leave your items at the curb until collected.
