Why Omicron shows it's time to update our COVID-19 vaccines | CBC NewsThe vaccines currently used were made to target the original strain of the virus, which is dramatically different from the highly transmissible Omicron variant that has become dominant globally in the weeks since it was identified. And which most people have already been infected with and therefore produced their own naturally acquired immunity, hence do not need any additional injection. The end. The mRNA design was too targeted. That was obvious months ago. If the pharmaceutical companies are worth their salt, they're on it, and we'll have a new string of vaccines in year to come. Sigh. Don't worry!! Pfizer is releasing their omicron vaccine hopefully in March. Just in time for the variant to be long gone, but hey lets just take it anyways 👍
