Vancouver Centre member of Parliament Hedy Fry has warned about stigmatization in the battle against monkeypox, recalling the fear surrounding HIV-AIDS when she was a physician in the '80s.

Original Story posted by The Canadian Press

Fry says mistakes must not be repeated that were made decades ago when the gay and bisexual communities were “afraid and ashamed to come out” because of misconceptions about HIV-AIDS. Fry says that although most monkeypox cases are being reported among men who have sex with men, it does not mean this is the only group susceptible to the disease.

She says that as a doctor the during the early stages of the HIV-AIDS epidemic, she “had to deal primarily with the stigma and the fear and the anxiety”.

100%. You would think we would have made progress since the 80's, but no.

99% of cases are driven in the homosexual community. Eventually the virus will spread to everyday folks. Instead of propaganda affirming gays, we need education for them, in all love, teach the behaviour as dangerous and fundamentally wrong. Change and repentance is needed.

Alberta NDP slams United Conservative Party for health centre closures | Globalnews.caRecent data from AHS showed most of the reductions happened in rural communities such as Peace River, Rocky Mountain House and Sundre. We’ll now, if the ndp would have put more nurses etc. to work, instead of hiring all their friends to sit in easy chairs at AHS head office, this would not be a problem . the NDP doesn't want to admit a lot of this has to do with the liberal mandates federally put in place and a lot of Health agencies now have as policy. How many nurses are still sitting at home right now simply because they want to make a choice? The NDP is just as responsible Is the UCP closing centres or is it AHS? You're slamming the wrong people
