The UK cases have been predominantly in gay and bisexual men. The agency cautioned that although the disease has not historically been sexually transmitted, “it can be passed on through other close contact with a person who has monkeypox or contact with clothing or linens used by a person who has monkeypox.”Massachusetts Department of Public Health
Dr. Mylène Drouin, Regional Director of Public Health for Montreal, said they are mainly not severe and told the public not to panic. There are 15 cases in Montreal, one on the north shore and one on the south shore, for a total of 17.
