Migrant deaths at Canada-U.S. border ‘warning shot’ of more to come: expert

Indeed, the crush of South American migrants at the U.S.-Mexico border has become a defining characteristic of American politics in recent years, most notably during the tenure of former president Donald Trump.Alleged border smuggler was Florida cab driver with financial troubles

Nor is Canada a stranger to the problem: thousands of asylum seekers crossed the border in Quebec each year while Trump was in office, though the numbers have dropped precipitously since then. But an organized effort to sneak groups of people into the U.S. from Canada is a new one on Friedman.“It just demonstrates the allure still — maybe the enduring allure — of trying to get to the United States. It’s really kind of fascinating,” she said.

But a single incident isn’t likely to prompt either country to seriously rethink the way they manage and defend their shared frontier, she added. “This sounds terrible, but I think it’s going to take more than four people dying at the border to really galvanize action on the part of Canada and the United States.”

Has anyone asked the question why have they decided to cross illegally? You can't legally leave this country unvaccinated.

Might it also drive a discussion to understand why Canadians are willing to risk dying to flee this country?

Canada and the US should have open door policy , where ppl can move and work in both countries.

Definitely a problem for the Canadian media narrative.

Fascinating that people around the world are still taken in by the complete sham that is 'American exceptionalism.'

That area has had immigrants crossing on foot for many years now . Not surprised that someone died , most are from warm countries and have no idea the cold and freezing temps they will face out there .

I know its difficult to make this seemingly-great leap to future-considerations but these particular migration outflows from mass-repatriation is going to be significant when coupled with overall travel demands after HyperCapSoc. Believe me, this IS the headache.

Everything-Illegal Immigration is no longer a concern after Non-Binding Consensuses and HyperCapSoc. They will all return home. This in of itself is actually the main concern. Please allow for this mass exodus to take priority as people wish to return to their Motherlands.
