Mike Babcock's seat may have gotten a little hotter after three-straight early playoff exists. His confidence, however, is firmly intact. (lukefoxjukebox)

TORONTO – If Mike Babcock is walking into his fifth season as head coach of theGet comfortable being uncomfortable

His sights are lasered toward early April and making the playoffs in a division that received a summertime talent injection, not what is likely to happen if Babcock’s group scatters long before May—and he, personally, extends his post-season losing skid to six-straight series. “This is as much change as I’ve seen since I’ve been in the National Hockey League,” he said, encouraged by the righty-lefty balance of hisand the internal growth of the Leafs’ locked-up young core. “I think we’ve done a good job as an organization to increase our depth.”

“Mike has proven he’s a coach capable of winning the Stanley Cup. He’s been to the finals in two other separate occasions and gone to Game 7 in both of those,” Dubas said Thursday. “You want to be changing and adapting and not staying stale. So we spent a lot of time talking about all of that. We spent a lot of time talking about the players and their usage, and Mike’s ideal way of dealing with it. We’re certainly on the same page there,” said Dubas.“So when we get to the end, we know they have the gas in the tank that they can outlast the other teams and can handle more responsibility,” the GM said.

lukefoxjukebox The only year where playoff success was below expectations was last season. The team overachieved prior. Let’s get something straight, the angle here is the media and part of the fan base want Keefe as the coach, all the spin is based on that.

FAN590 lukefoxjukebox The Blue's won the Cup with Craig Berube behind the bench. This whole myth about Babcock being some sort of hockey professor has worn off completely in Toronto. I hear he's heading back to Detroit soon if things don't work out this season.

FAN590 lukefoxjukebox Love listening to him gangster talk

lukefoxjukebox

lukefoxjukebox He needs to fix some things in the playoffs.

lukefoxjukebox Babs has to produce a one round win....no more excuses.

lukefoxjukebox Don’t worry about his confidence or his ego ! He is great just ask him

lukefoxjukebox calling the first 2 playoff appearances early exists and suggesting his confidence should have or could have waivered is a poor take

FAN590 lukefoxjukebox I've heard rumours that he may be heading back to Detroit, if things don't work out in Toronto this season.

lukefoxjukebox If they fail to make the playoffs (unlikely) or don't get passed the first round, yeah he'll be gone for sure.

Maple Leafs 'persistent' in pushing for long-term deal with Mitch Marner - TSN.caAccording to TSN Hockey Insider Darren Dreger, the Toronto Maple Leafs have been 'persistent' in pushing both seven- and eight-year extension offers to restricted free agent Mitch Marner this summer. he don't want These RFA contracts need to become more strict, an RFA shouldn’t be allowed to walk away and play on a different team while contracts are negotiated. It puts too much negotiation power in the players corner and increases the possibility of injuries occurring playing elsewhere. Should have done the same with Matthews
