Canadians don’t have individual rights. The notwithstanding clause was a compromise that made the Charter nothing more than a eunuch, and democracy nothing more than mob rule.

Obviously s.33 (the notwithstanding clause) is a serious affront to the existence of minority rights. It's time for a national discussion about its use.

Aw how cute. Quebec trying their hardest to hold onto their invasive colonial roots. Works out so well in 2022...

I say that if Quebec wants to make it harder for English speaking people to speak English, we should respond in kind to French in the rest of Canada.

No the problem is you want to Force your language down people's throats when some people don't want to learn it okay and there's no problem with that but unfortunately you have a problem with it because you're ignorant

Canadians should be concerned any time a province invokes the notwithstanding clause. It was shameful when Doug Ford used it and this too is questionable. The OQLF should nor run roughshod over people's rights.

That’s wrong, Quebec’s government does not respect Canadians. Canada is English and French. From what I can understand is many people immigrate through Quebec to get to Canada, the law should effect those people. They need to learn French or do not enter using Quebec.

Definition of bigot : a person who is obstinately or intolerantly devoted to his or her own opinions and prejudices especially : one who regards or treats the members of a group (such as a racial or ethnic group) with hatred and intolerance

Quebec is the only province in Canada that’s allowed to be a bigot and not be called out . Meanwhile the rest of us “fringe” provinces are dangerous extremists, racist , white supremacists, misogynistic Canadians according to our Quebec loving prime minister JustinTrudeau

La sauvegarde de la lanque francaise ces pas dempieter sur les autres lanques. Legault savait que la lois serrait contester. Ces juste du politique pour pouvoir dire ' regarder jme suit battut pour le francais mais le mechant federal....' dla politique 101

Not a all. Je suis Québécoise et je suis contre

Doesn’t make any sense because there is another group of people who were beaten until they did not speak their language anymore.

Given that Quebecers were too scared to leave Canada in the 90s, can the rest of us leave and finally rid ourselves of this backward, racist leech of a province?

Quebec is a garbage province. Time to take out the trash.

Should have cut them off like a cancerous tumour back in 92.

Nobody respects a welfare province or a province without a waste treatment plant Stop the equalization payments

Respect goes both ways. Legault doesn't respect human rights and minorities.

Protesters hurl racial slurs at event featuring Justin Trudeau OH WAIT I FORGOT WE MADE THAT UP

Last time I checked Quebecers carry canadian passports and canadian currency, and yes that includes francophone Quebecers. Don't forget Indigenous we're here before everyone. Legault =🤡🤡

Why doesn’t the premier of Quebec raise separation from Canada again? We as Canadian are really to let them go.

The “notwithstanding clause” is the only protection provinces have federal overreach. I don’t understand why more provinces don’t use it?

Dans notre société moderne, ces lois archaïques sont un pas en arrière. Par exemple, la Belgique a trois langues officielles, le flamand, le français et l'allemand. En tant que franco-ontarien, nous avons dû nous battre pour avoir des services en français.

Quebec is Canada’s toilet.

Stop interfering with the will of Canadians. The majority of people want the law, it is their province. Liberals have no clue with a majority means bc they have none. Only 17% of canadians voted for them!!

Nazis and their language laws

There needs to be a middle ground, I’m for French being the first language &understand the situation, but you can’t enforce it in a way it removes peoples rights what is the CAQ so worried about. If the people want this then let them choose. Find another way to protect French.

francoislegault votre arrogance est inadmissible. Vous devriez envisager de respecter TOUS les Québécois qui paient votre salaire, y compris tous les anglophones, qu'ils aient voté pour vous ou non.

Then lets make Ontario english only.

Respect works both ways.

They are so desperate to save a language few care to save.

RosieBarton francoislegault If you are so certain that Bill96 is for the good of all quebecers why then use the non-withstand clause?qcpoli

When a majority makes a decision regarding the removal of Charter Rights of a minority one must consider the ulterior motive.

Legault doesn’t know it yet, but he’ll be talking about referendums sooner rather than later… he’s already falling for the bait.

Controversial Bill 96 adopted by Quebec's legislatureThe final vote was 78 in favour and 29 opposed. Everyone will go nuts for a few days, then things will calm down. It's now for the lawyers to do their thing. This will make it all the way to the Supreme Court. Time for the rest of us to demand we be served in English only then. I’ve had enough of the 50 years of forced bilingualism. Pandering to Quebec to make sure they were first at the trough for government jobs. A dark day for our province.
