Patricia Treble: Rarely a day goes by when Diana’s name isn’t mentioned alongside those of Charles and Camilla. But it’s time we saw them as a couple unto themselves.

The couple laugh after a bee flew up Charles’s jacket during a 2015 visit to New Zealand

Their happiness together has long been obvious. They joke their way through many engagements, such as in 2015, when Camilla couldn’t stop laughing as a bumblebee made its way up her husband’s suit jacket during a tour in New Zealand. During their visit to Canada in 2017, the couple called back and forth to each other to see this farmer’s grains or to sample that baked offering while touring a farmers’ market in Ontario’s Prince Edward County.

They were incompatible. He was serious and fixed in his ways. His myriad enthusiasms—the environment, painting, architecture, philosophy—bored her. She was young and had an effortless warmth, but was also filled with insecurities, especially about Charles’s feelings toward Camilla. For years thereafter, Camilla was eviscerated in the press, even branded the “Rottweiler” . She was loathed in Britain with a passion that still burns in Diana fans, more than two decades after Diana’s death in that Paris car crash in 1997. They cling to treacly memories of the woman British prime minister Tony Blair famously called “the People’s Princess.”

And she has transformed Charles from the “very morose, depressed man” he was at the end of his marriage to Diana, as royal biographer Penny Junor told the, to a man who is “fundamentally happy. He is relaxed. He has got his sense of humour back.” Charles acknowledged the influence of his “brilliant” wife in a 2015 CNN interview: “It’s always nice to have somebody on your side. She is an enormous support . . . She certainly pokes fun if I get too serious about things. And all that helps.

That's the most insulting header to this tale that I could imagine. It was Diana herself who spoke about a marriage of three, the third party being Camilla. To turn that around to turn Diana out is unbelievably insulting, especially to her beloved sons.

Charles and Camilla in private?

Nobody gives a turkey about the bloody royals.

Their affair played a part in her death. Media went crazy to prove the affair. Never forget that.

What does it matter - obviously the couple in question does not give a royal f*ck as to what people think of their relationship.

She is too good for them.

Whatever I,m sure princess Diana would like that to

Why? The guy married a young woman and paraded her in front of the world, all the while conducting an affair with another man's wife. Just like his daddy. When do we start judging a person's character by the way they treat their spouse. PrinceCharlesIsACad

We can only hope QEII outlives this doofus chuckie.

The house is on fire and this is what you focus on? Priviledged is what you are, like the people you write about.

A couple of geezers

Never!!!!

Weren’t they *always* a couple unto themselves.

Who cares seriously they both cheates on their partners

you'd think that after charlie said he wanted to live in her trousers we would have heard less from these two. That said, they seem to like each other and Charles prior marriage to Di was arranged, kinda sad

Yes to me Charles had her liquidated to marry Camilla!

Or maybe we should toss them all into the ignominy bin.
