Ashley Payette and her puppy, Hans, are photographed together in her Toronto apartment.TORONTO -- When Ashley Payette returns to work in the coming months, she’s worried her 12-week-old puppy will have a hard time adjusting to her absence.
The couple has another dog, a 15-month-old Samoyed named Mila, who was destructive when she was left alone for the first few times as a puppy. Payette said she’s hoping that won’t be the case for their new puppy when they eventually head back to the office. , said it’s important to distinguish between normal dog behaviour and more serious separation anxiety.
If the dog whines, cries, howls, or barks for a short period after its owner leaves and then entertains itself or goes to sleep, Perkins said the pet will probably be able to adjust to that person being away for an extended period of time.In order to see how well their dog fares in their absence, Perkins said owners can attempt mock departures in the weeks leading up to their return to work.
“Show your dog that they’re there before you go, leave without a fuss and when you come back, if the items have been played with, you’re probably going to see that puppy played with them or your dog played with them and then settled down somewhere,” he said. “Go and sit in your car for a little while, or go for a little walk for your exercise, so your pet can start to be at home by themselves,” he told CTV News Vancouver on Wednesday.Patel said owners should ensure their dog has been exercised before they leave for work for the day to prevent the animal from going stir-crazy when it’s alone inside. He also said dogs should be left with activities and things to do so they don’t get bored and start whining and barking or chewing furniture in the home.

What about my turtles? Turtles are animals too you know, they deserve the same attention as cats and dogs.

Honestly, I think the mainstream media in Canada has gone completely insane. These reporters need to seek mental help.
Return to work when ... I’ve been WFH since March and right now it’s likely back in Sept or in 2021. My dog is going to be major Velcro dog by then.
“See ya at 5. Don’t eat my shoes”.
Say goodbye?
I like making a marinade with dark soya sauce, brown sugar, lemon juice, garlic, and a sploosh of sesame oil. Cut up the dog into 6oz pieces, marinate for 48 hours, drain excess marinade, let meat come to room temp, cook 2 mins per side on a blazing hot grill.
Just lock the door, it’s a dog. Never had issues with mine and never thought to go over and beyond to prepare the... dog.
Finally, news I can get on board with
And what about those cats?
I was off for three weeks back in March, and my big suck still gets upset when I leave for work.

For people who work long hours and are barely home shouldn't even have a dog in the first place. Dogs are best for people who are home mostly.
I suggest freezing small portions so you can save on lunch expenses!

My cat was a bit concerned the first week I went back to work... meeting me at the door each night and then following me around in the morning as he realized I was getting ready to go out but he's ok now in the 2nd week. They are animals. They will survive
