THE CANADIAN PRESS/Nathan DenetteTORONTO -- Tim Hortons’s annual “Roll Up the Rim To Win” contest is back, but not how you’ve come to know it.according to a press releaseThe four-week promotion is scheduled to kick off on March 11, when customers will begin getting their to-go coffees in disposable cups featuring the familiar rims that unfurl to reveal whether they’ve won.

Between March 11 and April 7, hot beverages will be sold in the familiar “Roll Up the Rim To Win” paper cups, giving customers one chance to win a prize. Then, in the last two weeks when Tims stops selling the contest cups, customers will only get a digital “roll” with their purchase. And here’s a catch: cardholders can accumulate chances to win, but won’t actually be able to see if they did until they register the app.

Starting on the eve of the contest, March 10, Tim Hortons says it will be giving away 1.8 million reusable hot beverage cups for free.

Just another step toward digitization :) BTC

It's really not complicated enough to warrant an explanation.

Wonder what the digital version of please play again will look like. With less prizes it will pop up a whole lot more.

Who cares?

Amazing that, with advertising revenue dying everywhere these days, all this free advertising is being given to an American restaurant conglomerate!

There is a better app out there called google maps. It'll show you to the nearest McDonald's so you can get a good cup of coffee. For $1. Seriously tho, TimHortons Everyone is telling u that your coffee has gone 2 crap & so have the doughnuts, yet you refuse to accept & change🤯

I'll give you a free coffee if you can actually get my next order right.

The lid isn't on all the way in that picture. That's a leaker!

Roll up the Rim makes my bottom teeth hurt. 🙄

This paid commercial brought to you by CTV

😂

How about “who cares how it works” fixed it for you

Their coffee is crap...

Less than half the prizes and an overly complcated stupid online thing... only a few weeks of roll up the rim. None of it worth bad coffee and service.

I fail to see how this will reduce waste. In both cases, a disposable coffee cup will still be purchased. Dumb

Can’t wait for play again

I prefer percolated coffee made in My Canadian Made GE percolator:

This appears to be a commercial placement, not news.

I’m sure it involves a mind shattering amount of please play again.

I can’t wait for this

So TimHortons how does this actually reduce waste? Seems to me if you buy coffee during the last two weeks of the promotion you will still get a single use cup, regardless of whether the contest is then online only.

says to me they for the last 2 weeks of the contest want less people... what a clown move on their part

I guess those without computers or phones that support apps, are out of luck. 🤔

Too frigiin complicated.

3 rolls if you use a refillable cup!!!

There is a better app, it’s called google maps and it will show you where McDonald’s and Starbucks are ! idiotic convoluted

Didn't they just announce that their new way forward was by going back to basics ? 🤪👎

TimHortons you’re a no for me.

Amazing that, with advertising revenue dying everywhere these days, all this free advertising is being given to an American restaurant conglomerate!

I’m sure the retirees who meet at Tim’s every morning are super pumped about downloading an app onto their smartph— hahahahaha, nah.

Dear TimHortons, For me to consider purchasing a coffee from you, you'd need to switch back to the original lid and ditch the sippy cup.

Okay...like that isn't confusing.

asinine

I love it when people complain about contests, prizes and free things. FYI companies don’t have to do this at all!! You get what you get and you don’t get upset!

Every 7th cup is free at McDonaldsCanada and it is better coffee than TimHortons Also, McDonald's has free coffee refills for eat-in customers.

Now that's too fuc…. complicated !!! I'l go at McDonalds !!!
