The G7 is putting skyrocketing fuel prices ahead of their goals of reducing the amount of energy generated from fossil fuels. Learn more.

“The world has taken a dramatic turn,” Environment Minister Steven Guilbeault said in a teleconference from Berlin on May 27, following a meeting with his counterparts from the G7 countries.

However, following dozens of pages of climate commitments to biodiversity, sustainable agriculture, carbon pricing, and clean energy, the ministers suddenly changed their tack: right now, they said, the world needs more oil.Article content“We note with grave concern the burden creates for households, in particular for low-income households, as well as businesses and industry, in G7 countries and beyond,” the communiqué read.

In the communiqué, the energy ministers acknowledged the contradictions inherent in their appeal for increased oil production, but insisted that it would be temporary.Article content Later, the ministers doubled down on their promise to decarbonize electricity by 2035, insisting they will gradually phase out power generated from coal. “We highlight that, wherever feasible, electrification of energy demand sectors is key to decarbonizing our energy systems,” they wrote.

When will they ever learn? It is not climate change, it’s EVOLUTION

War or no war, I fully expected G7 countries to renege on their climate commitments. In fact, I doubt they ever intended to keep their promises. It’s what they do.

It’s not surprising that the human fly, “Little” Steven Guillbeault preaches climate doom above all else. He and Groper Trudeau should be forced to live without a heated home so they understand how many seniors and low-income Canadians will live next winter.

Reality trumps ideology.

That can’t possibly be s_guilbeault in that picture asking for more fossil fuel production because he only rides bikes and it would have been impossible for him to make it to Europe on a bike. Someone needs to alert him that there’s an impostor cdnpoli

Don't we have oil?

don't 'look' for more just enhance what we have as we ALL move towards less oil....don't use Russia as a excuse....pretend you still have a backbone not a slide as you have been described
