William Stromgren of Sweden and Topi Ronni of Finland will be facing off against one another in the tournament\u0027s quarterfinals.

Stromgren has been a bit part as the 13th forward for the Swedes, averaging fewer than six minutes per game and stapled to the bench during a New Year’s Eve date with Canada, but his inclusion on the roster is proof of his progress in his first campaign with Brynas in Sweden’s best league.

“Now, we have to find a way to get his offensive game going with all these new things that he’s learned and become much better at,” Edwards continued. “Now it’s, ‘OK, can he combine that skill and sense and ability and the offensive instincts he has and find a way to round that whole game out?’ Because if you look at his stats, they’re not that impressive.

“You know what I see a lot in Topi is Mikael Backlund,” said Edwards, who spent five days with Ronni during that same trip to Europe in early December. “There are a lot of similarities in how he plays — very smart, understands 200 feet, has enough offensive ability to be able to produce but also competes away from the puck and understands that part of the game.
