When police were alerted to a fire in the basement of the Pioneer Hotel in Cwmfelinfach, a small village in southeast Wales, they discovered more than a few sputtering flames. They also uncovered 2,000 cannabis plants and hydroponic growing equipment in the abandoned pub, reports the Caerphilly Observer.“In excess of 2,000 plants of varying maturity were located at the premises, as well as hydroponics equipment,” notes a statement from police.
“I would also encourage all members of our local communities to contact us if they see any suspicious activity in their neighbourhoods, especially around derelict buildings,” Boucher said.
