Saturday at 7pm on CTV: Female police officers share their claims of relentless sexual harassment and bullying with W5's Avery Haines.

Last Updated Saturday, February 22, 2020 7:09AM EST

Getting into college, working hard and volunteering in her community was just part of her journey to becoming a police officer and wearing a uniform and badge she coveted. It didn’t take long, however, for red flags about sexual harassment and discrimination that Zarabi claims she began seeing in police college, to also send up warning signs at her new workplace.

Jen Magnus was one of those female officers. As a constable for the Calgary Police Service, she also says she endured ongoing sexual harassment during her 14 years in uniform. Magnus says when she spoke up or tried to make changes, it got worse, so she gave up her badge. Her response: “Absolutely, it is. To this day, I have a friend who’s still on the job, she hears horrific stories; she is trying to help them but they are so fearful. So they stay quiet. It’s heartbreaking, but I understand.”

Most men are harassed by women at work Four out of five men are sexually harassed by women at work - but are too afraid to complain to their employers - according to researchers

Wake up. It goes both ways! The surprising number of men who complain of workplace sexual harassment

Can't take the heat get back in the kitchen

what they don't tell you is everyone gets heat, i.e. jokes, shit talk etc and you know what 99% get that its just joking around and the fact that its when people don't heat you up you should be worried.

Not surprising that this occurred in Toronto unfortunately

Sad 😞

Women also insult, discriminate, and harass others (including men) in the workplace.

When your job isn’t paying you enough.

Not surprising If men could bind fem in chains to make them the folders-of-their-laundry they would be happier! Sexism is brain-deep. Big-Male-in-Sky makes being male the best form of life.

NS definitely needs legislation protecting women in the workplace. This women is a police officer. She deserves the same gratitude and appreciation and respect as her male colleagues for doing the same job and risking her life just like they do. respect

Incredible courage!!

All other provinces in Canada have legislation to protect against harassment. NL and PEI have tabled their legislation and NS is dragging their heels!

I wish I could say I'm surprised, but I'm not. And it's probably not just here in Halifax that this harrassment is happening.
