Metro Vancouver residents will head to the polls next month to vote in the federal election, but many may still have questions about pressing regional issues such as transportation or plans to deal with the climate crisis.
That’s why a consortium of regional stakeholders called Moving in a Livable Region is hosting an all candidates’ forum to hear from and ask candidates about transportation, land-use planning, equity, climate change, and health in Metro Vancouver. The event, co-sponsored by The Vancouver Sun, will bring together candidates from the Liberal, Conservative, New Democrat, and Green parties on Monday at SFU Harbour Centre on West Hastings Street in Vancouver. The event is free to attend and those wishing to attend can register here at eventbrite.ca.
Moving in a Livable Region is made up of representatives from Metro Vancouver Mayors’ Council, TransLink, non-governmental organizations, business associations, academic and student organizations, industry and labour, the local health authority, SFU and UBC. The forum will also allow members of MLR to learn about the parties’ commitments to projects like the Congestion Relief Fund, which will provide investment in mobility infrastructure for one million new residents over 20 years.
