Charity Millar’s three-seater e-bike gives her and her two small children an environmentally conscious way to get around Vancouver Island. But when it comes to grabbing food on the go, not everything is equal between car and bike users.
Soothed by the promise of sugar, August agreed to get his shots. Afterwards, they biked to the Tim Hortons and into the empty drive-thru. That’s when the plan started to go awry. Except Millar’s bike does have a motor and a battery. And locking up the bike and going inside the restaurant isn’t as quick for her as it might be for someone who doesn’t have to unbuckle two small children and help them down.
“Our drive-thru policy states that only vehicles licensed under the relevant motor vehicle legislation can be served at the drive-thru windows at Tim Hortons restaurants,” the statement reads. “Licensed motor vehicles include cars, trucks, vans and motorcycles.”

Touchy situation but i can see why they declined TimHortons 1 would be a safety concern trying to balance riding and holding food or drinks because accidents can happen fast, 2 park the bike and treat yourself and the kids inside i know as a parent i'd choose the safest way
I think the fear that nighttime staff is operating under is punishing innocent customers. I tried to go through a Tim Hortons on my pedal bike 15 years ago and the same thing... the woman was 'scared' of me, simply because it was nighttime.
No wonder TimHortonsUS has become so unpopular in Canada. I guess Tim Hortons does not want family business.

LMFAO, McDonald's has been doing this for years even when the restaurant dining room is closed, no unlicensed vehicle gets served. No plates no service in the drive thru.

Only motorized vehicles. Trucks cannot see bikes, scooters, ebikes. It's a basic traffic law that is Nation-wide.
E-bikes are allowed to go where any bicycle goes. too bad the media are trying to make Tim Hortons look like the bad guy in this situation. What I did learn from this story is that a donut is part of an active and healthy lifestyle.
