Don’t Be Afraid Of Robert Munsch’s ‘Love You Forever’ | CBC Parents

I’m not sure what’s scarier, my tears or my children’s questions. However, recently, I was forced to face myLet’s go through the book together and see if we can gird you for your next attempt at Munsch’s classic.

I thought this article was going to be about kids being able to handle feelings. But, really, it’s about parents. Then Munsch comes at you with a sucker punch to the stomach. The moving van! Why is he moving out already? I mean, good for him for being able to afford his own home, especially with house prices the way they are... Wait, will my kids ever be able to afford a house near me? How lonely will I be when they leave? Do I need to get a life?

I told them that it’s hard for me to see grandpa sick and that I worry about him and their grandmother. My daughter gave me a squeeze-your-juices-out hug and they both asked questions they had been wondering about their grandparents, and then we flipped the page. Which is a great metaphor for big feelings. Talk about them and flip the page.

Kids My wife adapted Love you forever For our eldest sons wedding... there were audible gasps from the guests when they realized what was being told...tears and incredible emotions...such a powerful book.

Kids CBC wouldnt know love unless it was in the form of a cheque from the taxpayers, they only know lies and fear. A disgrace to journalism and truth.

Kids Munsch is a masterful messenger to kids and those who read to them.

Kids My kids hear me say “I love you forever” every time I talk to them. I even tattooed it on my arm as a symbol of my love for them

Kids I have read this book many times to my children and now my grandchildren.

Kids My son and I often read 'Love You Forever' together. It was a great way for us to both understand that children grow up and relationships change but the love that we have for each other will always connect us. It was a lesson that has served us well.

Kids My mother gifted me this book when I moved across Canada with an inscription in it form her. She passed away a few years later at a far too young an age from cancer, with me having to help her do everything, even walk around. It pains me to read the book, but I do it fondly.

Kids How about putting more emphasis on family type programs/shows. I can't believe Anne with an E is canceled!! However, some shows still on Netflix are repulsive!! Pathetic!! Redic!!

Kids I read this to my Kindergarteners every year at Mother’s Day. One year my ailing 85 year old mother passed away on Mother’s Day. The next year I tried to read it to my class but couldn’t do it. A teacher on prep happened to pass by my door as I struggled & thankfully took over.

Kids My children are in their 30's. This book still makes me cry. I have kept it safe.
