TORONTO -- While millions of Canadians stay home to keep safe and help flatten the curve, for one group of Canadians, home has become more dangerous than ever.
One woman told CTV National News that since self-isolation and physical distancing became the norm during the COVID-19 pandemic, her home life has grown increasingly violent. “Our number of calls is rising across the board for financial abuse, physical abuse, emotional abuse -- everything,” said Zena Chaudry of Sakeena Homes Shelter.
The United Nations Secretary General Antonio Guterres recently called for urgent action on the issue by world leaders, suggesting countries ensure shelters are deemed essential services, that they invest in online services and outreach groups, and set up emergency warning systems in pharmacies and grocery stores.

Men have a hard time being alive. Everything bothers them. They live as though they have a stick up their ass. They can't walk or drive without trying to overtake you. They're chronically bothered & nervous. They talk about women's menopause? Men live everyday as if they have it.
Women are often married to losers but hide this enormously. You already see that a man is going to be an axxhole husband when he makes his girlfriend carry the liquor bag from the LCBO store. Young women need to wise up and not help a guy who's too lazy to carry his own bottles.
DianneWatts4BC I was talking about this with my girlfriends 15 year old son. We both feel for the men/women/children who are trapped in the house with their abusers. With things shutting down its gotta be getting more & more difficult to find help to flee the situation. 🙏🙏🙏
Well they have unloaded our prisons so what can we expect to be done about this troubling outcome
Now do PMJT’s 26 day self isolation with no end in sight story. Then Do Minister Morneau’s hours maybe days promise to the oil patch 11 days ago. If you can’t do that at least list Katie Telford as a Editor!
If you love animals and want to help women in domestic violence situations, apply to foster through the OVMA SafePet program which protects the pets of women who enter into shelters.
This should not come as a surprise
Yea, sad these low lives cant stand to be alone with themselves so they take it out on their partners, Ive seen the law firms specializing in divorce capitalizing on this with increased advertising of their services? CFRAOttawa
Men are also victims of domestic violence at rates similar to women. But there is far less support or public acknowledgment of the issue. This article is another example.
Ban pandemics.
Just one of the unintended consequences of the way governments are trying to contain COVID19. The containment strategy being deployed WILL destroy more lives than it saves. WorldHealthDay
How do you get stats like that if everyone is in self isolation? Those involved calling a status line,
The fall-out of this 'planned-demic' will be catastrophic. Given 1/3 currently closed businesses will never open again, the financial pressure on marriages given money is the number one cause of divorce and the economy toll of being government dependent. Hysteria has a price.
