Canada's egg industry appears to be quietly sidestepping widespread shortages and wildly spiking prices affecting other countries, and some say supply management is to thank.

The Canadian PressA worker stocks eggs on a shelf at a grocery store in Detroit, Mich., last month. Egg prices across the U.S increased by 60 per cent in the last year. That's about four times the increase of prices in Canada, but prices were higher in Canada to begin with.

unlike the Canadian Dairy industry , who are forcing dairy producers to dump excess milk to keep supply control and raise prices for the gov't and distributers.. i assume the dairy farmers arent benfitting from these comsumer price increases

It’s not their fault. It’s not the fault of the pandemic. It’s the liberals fault for thinking they can stop viral spread but shutting down the world. Print that.

Supply management…is Marxist.

Keep that quiet so Trudeau doesn’t try to destroy that too.

Happy with no major increase regarding eggs. And that no yolk.

some say? yeah, the fucking commies say that

I don't know - I did face a little sticker shock with the last carton of eggs I purchased. The price is certainly spiking somewhat, even if the supply is there.

'Some say'... Government person say government do good job.

Well supply management allows producers to implement measures to protect their flocks and investments while maintaining price stability,apparently...?

Likely, because our Egg Board is protecting our farmers... unfortunately, like Milk, Beef and Dairy etc Boards prevent our farmers from producing more if they could...

Canadians are too polite to overcharge in a shortage.
