Hospitality Newfoundland and Labrador chair says fewer flights are bad for the whole economy

An Air Canada Rouge plan is seen on the runaway and the Deer Lake Regional Airport in Deer Lake. The airline is reducing the number of flights at the airport as it tries to deal with staffing and other issues. - ContributedDEER LAKE, N.L. — Air Canada is reducing its schedule in July and August and that will mean less flights will be coming into Newfoundland and Labrador.

“It’s going to pull back our recovery a little bit and we’ll probably see those numbers a little bit less than what we projected and at the end of the day what that comes down to is a decrease in revenue for us," she said. “So, hopefully people are able to make plans on either different flights or different routes in order to still be able to get here,” she said.

Then the demand for travel fell off the cliff, but people still had to be paid. The expenses were still there but the revenue wasn’t. Decisions had to be made and some people were laid off and others made the decision to leave the industry.

Air Canada to slash about 150 flights daily from schedule as airports face lengthy delays, cancellationsA majority of domestic flights to Canada’s busiest airports were delayed or cancelled over the past week as the effects of an overloaded international network… They’re gonna destroy themselves (and shareholders) over “Climate Change” and TheGreatReset How bad is it that the biggest airline in Canada says “we didn’t know it was gonna be this busy” when they *schedule* the flights? How can they claim they couldn’t have foreseen staffing shortage *when they scheduled the plane*? Anybody who thinks this is not orchestrated probably also believed 'two weeks to flatten the curve'

Air Canada to make 'meaningful reductions' to summer flight schedule | CBC NewsAir Canada to make 'meaningful reductions' to summer flights. Airline president blames 'unprecedented and unforeseen strains on all aspects of the global aviation system.' Was it really 'unforeseen' when AC & other airlines pushed to have mask protection mandates removed & then be surprised when 1000's of AC & airport staff are out sick with COVID? July is next week. People already abroad now need to scramble to get back home? Too little, too late. Air Canada is the worst airline ever and has only survived as long as it has because of its' long-time,virtual monopoly on air travel in Canada.
