The program is funded by the B.C. Language Initiative Program and the Aboriginal Languages Initiative, through the First Peoples Cultural Council.

A basic Cree and Ojibway language class is being offered by the Pacific Association of First Nations Women.

“We are excited to begin another cohort of community, culture and connection with valuable members of our growing Cree and Ojibway language learning community,” Couzelis wrote. The First People’s Cultural Council is a provincial Crown corporation created in 1990 to administer the B.C. government’s First Peoples’ Heritage, Language and Cultural Program.
