The return to standard time on Sunday is reigniting the debate about whether the rest of Canada should follow Yukon in moving to a singular year-round time setting. But experts say 'falling back' may feel a little different this year as the COVID-19 pandemic has upended our usual schedules.

Dan LaMoore adjusts the hands on a Seth Thomas Post Clock at Electric Time Company, Friday, Oct. 23, 2020, in Medfield, Mass. Daylight saving time ends at 2 a.m. local time Sunday, Nov. 1, 2020, when clocks are set back one hour. Just when you thought 2020 couldn't get any darker, the end of daylight time this weekend will make dusk come one hour earlier.

While the twice-yearly tradition continues to be a source of fervid contention, University of Toronto medical professor Donald Redelmeier says one thing is as certain as the sun rises: We have bigger worries. But Redelmeier, a senior scientist at health research organization ICES, predicts that the putative negative side-effects of the time change will be eclipsed, if not alleviated, by the global upheaval of the pandemic.

But a movement to keep the clocks fixed is picking up steam in Canada after Yukon moved to permanent daylight time in March. Parts of Saskatchewan and Nunavut have also settled on one time year-round. Hall said she helped conduct a small survey of parents of children with insomnia suggesting that some kids are sleeping more under lockdown, while others are struggling to get some shut-eye.

Fuck off, I'm done tampering with the clocks, I'm staying at the current time.

We should have a pandemic for every time change!

Although it is a good idea, it's still just another step towards a global government.

Gotta say I hate standard time. Extra hour of sleep? I get the same of hours no matter what. I would rather have the sun set at 9 pm in summer than 8 pm. I do feel it’s hard on kids whose school starts at 8 am but on Dec 22, daylight starts creeping in earlier.

Awesome, thanks for the filler

Yeah because no one sleeps anymore anyway.

LOL - Good One
