Face masks made with multiple layers of cotton cloth may help prevent further transmission of COVID-19, according to new research in the Annals of Internal Medicine.

. “If you can’t tolerate wearing the mask then obviously you’re not going to wear it,” said Clase.

The other “unintended consequences” of homemade cloth masks are social, she added. “The biggest fear that we would have is that wearing a cloth mask would lead to a false sense of security,” she said, which could lead to reduced hand hygiene and physical distancing. While the research is incomplete, there is still enough “convincing” evidence that should inform policy decisions during the COVID-19 pandemic, the researchers wrote. The novel coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 is transmitted through aerosol and droplet particles that people generate while speaking, eating, coughing and sneezing, and cloth masks can stop those particles in their tracks before they can transmit the virus.

But masks are not an “isolated strategy,” he added, naming physical distancing and hand-washing as other elements of an “overarching strategy” to prevent infection. “Truthfully, it’s probably much more important to keep a physical distance than to wear a mask,” he said.

Is it really that difficult for you people to do some REAL journalism Where's your integrity? Even Dr. Fauci (Dr. Evil), himself is telling us NOT to wear a mask!! PLEASE STOP ENCOURAGING THE PUBLIC TO WEAR A MASK! ITS BAD FOR YOUR HEALTH!!!

jonbeltone Don't wear a mask...

.

Just stop. Lol. You guys would promote people wearing their masks in the car with the windows rolled up, on a nice walk outside away from others or even in their own homes if told to wouldn't you ?

BS

WOW!!! Your ratings are slipping drastically. You have lost the trust of the public due to your lack of journalism, and integrity. All to collect a pay cheque. Please stop with your lies. I have never been happier to say I no longer work at CTV. SHAME ON YOU ALL!

No face diapers!

The science on the efficacy of masks says they don't work

I don’t think so. I remember the gov saying they won’t help. Surely they actually know what they are talking about?

Along with frequent washing of hands & sanitizing items you come in contact with every day.

Sans empirical data.... OK

Oh my God, please stop

'Convincing' 'May' Love it when news is based on this 🤪🤪

The part where it says 'No direct evidence indicates that public mask wearing protects either the wearer or others' is consistent with known science, except they then weaponize that to say that we should wear them anyways because we're 'altruistic'. Just more leftist science.

💩

Until next week

Doug Ford says anyone who wants a COVID-19 test will be able to get oneFord said the only way to reach testing capacity in the province is for people to get tested, and said asymptomatic people will not be turned away at assessment centres It's amazing that we feel like happy when there is 'only' 25 death. All things considered, yes, there is hope the life conditions are improving. But they will never be the same. Not for those who lost loved ones to this pandemic. Interesting that deaths have been dropping this week. We will need to keep an eye on mortality rates as case loads creep up and down. This trend, infections with lower deaths, is not entirely bad. It’s important to remember that Canada would not be in as big a COVID mess now if: Trudeau had listened to his MILITARY’S warning early JANUARY, not GAVE AWAY PPE, and keep AIRPORTS and BORDERS OPEN until mid MARCH....

Growing number of Canadians furious that airlines won’t reimburse for travel cancelled due to COVID-19Support for a House of Commons petition demanding the federal government require airlines to refund trips jumped from 500 to around 5,900 in one day I looked at the possibility of rebooking the same flight for November, and even with the “credit” I’d have to pay an extra $150. So yeah, furious is the right word here.
