Jules Sherred, a B.C. conversion therapy survivor who now advocates for transgender rights, is seen as a teenager in the 1990s. Furstenau expressed frustration with what she described as a trend of the B.C. NDP"governing consistently from a reactive place."
Accepting who you are is difficult. Therapy should help with that. This is a sham. There is a healthy amount of gay activity in nature to prove it's not unnatural. So shut that shit down.
Techniques used in conversion therapy included ice-pick lobotomies; chemical castration with hormonal treatment; the application of electric shock to the genitals, nausea-inducing drugs simultaneously with the presentation of homoerotic stimuli; and masturbatory reconditioning.
The highest-profile advocates of conversion therapy today tend to be fundamentalist Christian groups and other organizations which use a religious justification for the therapy.
