Conor McGregor says he's 'decided to retire from fighting' - Sportsnet.ca

McGregor, 31, last fought in January when he defeated Donald Cerrone in a welterweight bout at UFC 246. That fight came after he had previously announced his retirement in March of 2019. He also once announced his retirement in 2016.“Nobody is pressuring anybody to fight,” White told reporters,. “And if Conor McGregor feels he wants to retire, you know my feelings about retirement — you should absolutely do it. And I love Conor…there’s a handful of people that have made this really fun for me.

“I’m just 31 years of age, I have a lot of prime left in me and a lot of desire and a lot of lofty goals,” McGregor said. If this is the end, McGregor leaves MMA as one of the most successful athletes in the sport’s history. Since turning pro in 2008, he’s posted a 22-4 record with 19 wins by knockout. McGregor joined the UFC in 2013, where he won three championship fights and headlined five out of the six highest-selling pay-per-view events in UFC history.
