Past and present students, parents, Hamilton community members and family members of Devan Selvey stood together at Wednesday night’s vigil to mourn the loss Devan, who was fatally stabbed outside of his high school in front of his mother, on Monday.
On the Facebook event page for the “Candlelight Vigil Against Bullying, Jealously, Hatefulness and for Love & Peace,” organizers said all members of the public are invited to attend the memorial in remembrance of Devan Selvey and speak out against bullying. For community member Trudy Nicholls-Draker, this isn’t the first time she has heard of bullying happening at this school. She attended the vigil for the Selvey family, and out of respect for her own.
Nicholls-Draker said she believes bullying is not dealt with effectively, and school boards need to have a tougher approach.
Charge the parents of the accused. It starts from the top. Probably drug users who never cared for their kids I would bet money on it.
I truly mean no offence but everyone is speaking out now that this young boy was killed. What about the past few weeks when he was being bullied? Why didn’t anyone speak out or do more then? See something, say something. Stand up for one another! Stop the bullies in their tracks!
The government is the biggest bully of all
Okay, that's not 'bullying' it's straight up murder. You're kinda muddying the waters here.
It is a cowardly action that is not welcomed in Canada.
