New request covers operating costs and player salaries for a shortened 2020 season

The Canadian PressA CFL source said Friday the league is seeking roughly $42.5-million in aid. In April, it asked the federal government for up to $150-million in financial assistance in the event of a cancelled 2020 season owing to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The source spoke on the condition of anonymity because neither the government nor CFL have confirmed the request. But prior to the start of negotiations, the CFL presented the union with a memo outlining the conditions it wanted and a completion deadline of July 23. While the revision is for substantially less money, the CFL’s situation hasn’t changed much. It still requires financial assistance with revenues having dropped drastically owing to the COVID-19 pandemic, and with expenses expected to rise if it tries to play a season with no fans.

No money for sports or artists, NONE!!!!!!!

Can’t say this enough! cfl

No way.

How about you give me a million dollars and I'll film myself throwing a football in the backyard.

Revised Financial Request paraphrase: We have an extremely boring product, so can we have $42.5 million.

Let me think about this... hiw about nope.

Bailouts for the Rich, forget about it... they don't need it with multi million dollar salaries. Most probably don't pay taxes in Canada anyhow

Listen, if the CFL get financial aid BEFORE ALL persons with disabilities do, then that would be so telling ! Let’s HOPE NOT ! But at this rate 114 DAYS (since Trudeau first recognize us as people needing help) it almost wouldn’t surprise me !

Why not let people pay for their own entertainment?

lambert_pp why.... money for nothing

Time to end it guys. Lights never came on this year, pray for next year. It's done 2020

Uhmmmmm NO!!
