NASHVILLE —Points to ponder as a potent power play struck five times, Jacob Markstrom turned back the competitive clock and Tyler Graovac had a night to remember as the Canucks claimed a 6-3 win over the Predators on Thursday:
— Vancouver #Canucks November 22, 2019The Canucks scored four power-play goals at Los Angeles on Oct. 30. They had three-power play efforts on Oct. 15 in Detroit and Nov. 12 against Nashville. They also failed to convert a 5-on-3 for 1:46 in Dallas on Tuesday, a sobering 6-1 loss in which they went 0-for-5 with the man advantage. They’ve also been blanked on seven other occasions this season.
Added Horvat: “They kept taking them and we wanted to keep putting the danger in. You get a power play and you want to get the next one and then the next one. It spoke to the character in the room. We knew we had to be better and we were.”Markstrom is hard on himself and even after a 45-save performance, including 16 on the power play, he was more impressed about the collective effort.
“It’s a win and we needed one,” said Markstrom. “I started feeling better in Dallas. I had a lot of time to work and I felt I was right there and that was the most goals I let in, but I felt it was coming and my confidence was there. It’s tough to lose 6-1 and it’s embarrassing, but I kept working.”
